We are seeking an AutoCAD Drafter/Assistant Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have drafting experience; possess a strong attention to detail and a passion for doing high-quality work; be highly organized; have the ability to effectively communicate with project managers, production team members and customers; and have the capacity to think critically, innovate and solve challenging problems.
Summary:
The AutoCAD Drafter/Assistant PM organizes and maintains all types of drawings and specifications and creates AutoCAD drawings that become architectural casework submittals used in production, fabrication and installation of products.
Responsibilities:
- Create accurate CAD drawings and submittal documents and from scope sheets, quotes, architectural documents, hand sketches, verbal instructions, and/or site visits.
- Seamlessly integrate and coordinate with project managers, design consultants, vendors and sub-contractors, to produce and alter drawings.
- Think creatively and critically to support the project team in the design process, to create sketches and drawings that work.
- Maintain schedule and meet deadlines.
- Print or output various formats of drawing sets as required for submittals and project management.
- Systematically save sketches and drawings and required outputs electronically.
- Thoroughly review and check sketches and drawings for errors, and make corrections before sending them to architects, sub-contractors, project managers, etc.
- Create, edit and update standard details and catalog various custom designs for reference and use in projects.
- Assist project managers in data entry, order placement, fabrication/production drawings, and other project management tasks to expedite project management functions.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills; listening, comprehension, and feedback
- Ability to understand of woodworking, joints, materials and equipment
- Proficiency with AutoCAD 2004 or greater
- Microsoft Office skills
- Understanding of AWI standards preferred
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to travel locally if necessary
- Knowledge of CABINET VISION preferred
- Knowledge of PDF editing software preferred
Applicant Qualifications:
- Two-year degree in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) or 2+ years of related CAD or design software experience
- Minimum 1-year practical experience as a CAD Operator
- Outstanding fluency and skill within the AutoCAD program preferred
